Amanda Stoel

Amanda Stoel is Foresight Project Developer in the Netherlands with interests in new technology, education reform, transhumanism, renewable energy, augmented reality, art (drawing and photography), artificial intelligence, healthy living, psychology, dancing, and singing.

Amanda is an active technoprogressive in the Netherlands. In this field she openly calls herself a transhumanist. Amanda has worked and argued for a proactive societal stance towards technological and science, educational reform, a more sincere application of renewable technologies and sources of energy, and ubiquitous implementation of virtual, enhanced, and augmented reality technologies. She is a General/Friendly Artificial Intelligence advocate. She has studied psychology.

Additional interests of Amanda are life extension, robotics, minimalist living, home hydroponics, and recycling art. She is active in several NGO related projects pertaining to bridging formal academia, health care and the public. As an avid critic of inefficiency and societal sluggishness Amanda favors a radically more proactive attitude towards empowering technologies, under the name of “foresight”, and she consistently advocates emancipation through self-direction of those who would otherwise let others decide their fate.

Amanda is a staunch critic of “societal calcification” and has repeated that we are damaging our western values by letting corporate and governmental institutions succumb to wasteful bureaucracy, as well as non-fact based superstitions and obscurantist (senseless) procedures. Amanda favors actual living experience and day-to-day wisdom over mostly outdated formalized, bureaucratic, hierarchical, and detached institutional constructs. Having travelled widely Amanda has seen first hand this waste of human potential and she can’t stand it.

She is a staunch efficiency evangelist, a fact which places her values occasionally in conflict with established and staid organizational structures. In this deep love of getting the job done, Amanda has made it her core value to fulminate a goal/result oriented approach, maximizing the potential for constructive serendipity. Key phrases would be cooperation, sincerity, lean procedure, and sound methodology.

Amanda is a go-getter and hard worker. She has worked in the full gamut of vocations, from sales in fashion/lifestyle retail, cool-hunting, academic secretarial jobs, team management, web design, cooking, to creative design.

In the private domain she is a graphic artist, photographer, healthy lifestyle advocate, and enjoys singing and dancing. Amanda lived in Finland and Germany and is a very flexible globetrotter. She had to survive in very “spartan” frontier regions, once for months near the arctic circle with winter temperatures under –30 Centigrade. Amanda is now a curious mix of tough, determined, innocently happy-going, and nourishing.

Living near Amsterdam, she is a single mother of two young children, a darling daughter and son. Much of her life is colored by her daughter’s postnatal cerebral palsy.
