“Alicorn”
Finley is Consultant at Kurzweil Technologies and
Creative Consultant at 3D Embodiment.
Alicorn was previously Visiting Fellow at the Singularity Institute for
Artificial Intelligence,
Teaching Assistant at University of Massachusetts Amherst, and
Grader at University of Massachusetts Amherst.
At the Singularity Institute for Artificial Intelligence, she
created
LessWrong blog posts and other content, did outreach work with
SIAI contacts, and provided some logistical and anti-akrasia support to
others there.
At Kurzweil Technologies, she
researches and posts events, books, films, and people to the KAIN blog.
Alicorn earned her B.A. in Philosophy and Worldbuilding at
Bard College at Simon’s Rock in 2008.
Her major in worldbuilding is the result of Simon’s Rock policy that
a second major may be created from scratch to accommodate students’
special aptitudes. As part of her self-created curriculum, she proposed
and
studied courses in such topics as constructed languages, physical
geography, and fantasy creatures.
