Professor Haym Benaroya
Haym Benaroya, Ph.D.,
FASME, FBIS
is Professor of Mechanical & Aerospace Engineering at
Rutgers University.
His general interests include probabilistic methods, system dynamics &
control, decision analysis, operations research and public policy. Also:
the history and development of scientific and mathematical ideas;
engineering education; space business and technology
transfer.
Current research interests include: the stochastic modeling of ocean
waves and currents; stochastic fluid-structure interaction modeling of
vortex-shedding; nonlinear dynamics of offshore structures; analysis of
stochastic parametric vibrations and stability; random vibration, risk
and reliability of aerospace/space structures; modeling of space and
lunar base structures.
Haym authored

He earned his BECE at The Cooper Union in 1976, his MSE in Structures
at the University of Pennsylvania in 1977, and his
Ph.D. in Structures, Mechanics, and Probabilistic Methods, at
the University of
Pennsylvania in 1981.
Haym is
Member, International Academy of Astronautics;
Fellow, American Society of Mechanical Engineers;
Fellow, British Interplanetary Society;
Associate Fellow, American Institute of Aeronautics and
Astronautics. In 2008 he was awarded the
Outstanding Technical Contribution Award by ASCE.
This is one of highest awards of the Aerospace Division and is given to
an individual who has contributed substantially to advancing the state
of the art in aerospace engineering, sciences and technology, and space
exploration and construction with application to civil engineering.
