Dr. Paul Lem
Paul
Lem, M.D. is Founder of
Spartan Bioscience.
Spartan provides DNA testing systems for decentralized and point-of-care
(POC) applications. Products include end-to-end solutions for
pharmacogenetics, infectious diseases, and food and water safety
testing. Spartan’s systems provide results in 1 hour at a fraction of
the
cost of central laboratory testing.
Paul has a diverse background in clinical medicine,
molecular biology research, and biotech entrepreneurship. Prior to
joining Spartan, he was VP Product Management at DNA Genotek, where he
led commercialization of the Oragene™ DNA collection device. Prior
to
that, he raised venture capital and started up Plexagen Diagnostics to
commercialize his invention of a universal multiplex PCR
technology.
He was the
winner of the 2010 Premier’s Catalyst Award for “Best Young
Innovator”. The $200,000 award recognizes excellence and leadership in
innovation in Ontario.

Vial.
He earned his B.Sc. in Human Biology from the University of Toronto
and his M.D. from the University of Ottawa. He graduated from the
inaugural class of Singularity University.
